Not so long ago, if you wanted to have a printed mug, you had to find a shop that had the machine required to print on mugs. Then you had to wait for days or even weeks to get your order done! But now, you can buy a mug press and print your own unique designs right at home.
We tested 20 machines and came up with the list of the 9 best mug presses. The Cricut Mug Press was our favorite overall. When taking our picks, we made sure they can accommodate different mug sizes. We also looked for adjustable temperature and time settings so you can find what works best for your design perfectly without fail every time! All mug presses we reviewed are quite portable and easy to store.
Other features: one-touch settings, auto shut-off, zone heating
The Cricut Mug Press is our top pick for the best mug press. This machine has a sleek, compact design, and it is specially optimized for sublimation printing and Infusible Ink products. It has one-touch settings and an auto shut-off feature that makes it easy to use. The patent-pending heat plate with zone heating delivers peel-proof, dishwasher-safe designs. The average heating time on this mug press is 6 minutes. You can also use this machine with off-brand sublimation inks, papers and mugs. The mug blanks are sold separately, which is the only downside.
Compared to the rest of the list, our editor’s choice, the Cricut Mug Press, is one of the simplest devices to use. Once users have created their designs with infusible ink and attached the transfer sheets to the mug blanks, it’s only a matter of pushing a button. Just select your design, insert your mug blank and watch the magic happen! Also, being a Cricut mug press, it’s made to be used with other Cricut DIY machines like the Cricut Explore Air to create designs for your mugs.
Other features: anti-scalding handle, safety male plug, stable suction cup, intelligent sound alert, built-in temperature correction, adjustable pressure knob
Our Premium Pick, the Realkant Tumbler Heat Press Machine is the best mug and tumbler heat press on the market. We love that this machine is so versatile. It can be used for mugs, straight skinny tumblers, and even glass jars up to 10.62″ long. This machine can press 1-2 mugs at a time and has a time range of 0-999 seconds. It is also quite easy to operate. You can adjust the pressure knob to control the amount of pressure you apply to the mug. The built-in temperature correction ensures that your mugs are evenly heated. The machine also has an intelligent sound alert to remind you when the mug is ready. We also appreciate that it has a built-in timer so you can get consistent results every time. This mug press comes with a safe male plug and a stable suction cup. The machine is equipped with an anti-scalding handle to protect your hands from the heat.
The Realkant Tumbler Heat Press Machine is one of Realkant’s more expensive machines compared to an alternative from the same manufacturer like the Realkant Heat Press Mini. The latter costs significantly less but is also less capable, with compatible mug sizes being 11-150z. Comparatively, this model is compatible with 11-30 oz if you include skinny tumblers. In addition to mugs and skinny tumblers, this model should also work with glass jars. Lastly, the maximum temperature range is higher at 482°F compared to the mini’s 392°F.
Other features: 1000w power usage, solid-state relays, convenient LCD display
This multifunctional combo press can do it all. The set can also be used to press shirts, caps, and plates as well as mugs. It is made with high-quality materials and features solid-state relays for consistent results. The shirt press comes with a heat-resistant silicone pad that can endure temperatures up to 700 degrees Fahrenheit. With 1000 watts of power, it is sure to get the job done quickly and efficiently. The best part about the mug press is that it can be used for a variety of different mug sizes. Whether you have a small 6-ounce mug or a large 11-ounce mug, this press can handle it. The time range on this press goes from 0 to 999 seconds, so you can adjust it to get the perfect press every time.
The BetterSub Heat Press Combo features a similar design to our best mug press for vinyl pick, the F2C Pro 5 in 1 Combo Heat Press. Both have a mug press attachment in addition to cap press, shirt press, and plate press attachments. One difference is the LCD display on this model, while the F2C features an LED controller. Also, there’s a temperature range difference with this one offering 0-440°F while the F2C offers 32-430°F. Nevertheless, the functionality should be pretty similar in both machines.
Other features: fully LCD automatic operation, bulk processing, 280W+280W
The US Stock 110V Automatic Mini Double Station is a top-quality double mug press that has a fully LCD automatic operation and can accommodate mugs of various sizes from 6 to 17 ounces. With its temperature range of up to 356 degrees Fahrenheit and time range of 90 seconds, this mug press is sure to produce amazing results. Additionally, its small dimensions ensure it is quite easy to store.
Like the Super Deal, 11OZ/12OZ Pro Mug Heat Press listed below, the US Stock 110V Automatic Mini Double Station works with a 110V outlet. However, similarities seem to end there. To its credit, this model appears to have the edge if you have a massive workload as it can press two mugs simultaneously. Only the Realkant Tumbler Heat Press Machine mentioned above is capable of a similar feat, with most mug presses maxing out at one.
Other features: digital LED controller, detached upgraded aluminum alloy cradle, 1 full year warranty
The F2C Pro 5 in 1 Combo Heat Press is one of the best mug presses on the market. It is compatible with most mug sizes and has a temperature range of 32 – 430℉. The time range is 0 – 999s and the cup diameter is 3″-3.5″. The machine also has a sublimation printing function and comes with hat, mug, and plate attachments. The full 360-degree rotation and professional swing-away design make it easy to use on a variety of different materials, including ceramics, glasses, and textiles such as cotton, flax, chemical fiber, nylon, etc. The machine comes with a 1 full year warranty.
In comparison to the BetterSub 12‘’ x15‘’ Heat Press, this F2C Pro 5 in 1 Combo Heat Press does have a few extra perks despite losing out in terms of the temperature range. The digital controller screen, for instance, is much bigger on this device than on its predecessor on the list. As such, keeping an eye on temperature and time should be easier. Furthermore, the non-stick surface with the detached upgraded aluminum alloy cradle is quite durable.
Other features: fully digital temperature control, automatic timer, solid steel welded framework, newest heater technology, pressure adjustable, automatic baking time control
The Super Deal 11OZ/12OZ Pro Mug Heat Press is a top-of-the-line mug press that can accommodate mugs ranging in size from 6 to 11 ounces. The temperature is kept constant automatically – no need to worry about fluctuating temperatures. Heating up time is quick, taking only 1-3 minutes. Finally, this press is 110V and comes with a one-year warranty.
As mentioned above, the Super Deal 11OZ/12OZ Pro Mug Heat Press is comparable to the US Stock 110V Automatic Mini Double Station. However, the latter can handle dual mugs, while this can only press one mug at a time. That said, there are different reasons to pick this model if you typically only press one mug at a time. One example is the soft heater liner that accommodates inconsistent mugs. Another is the user-selectable end-of-cycle alarms. Lastly, there are two mug attachments in the purchase.
Other features: CE certificate, LCD control board, automatic baking time control and temperature constant, high-quality aluminum and silica gel, Teflon coated elements
The BetterSub Mug Heat Press is a great mug press, thanks to its excellent heat resistance and ability to accommodate a wide range of mug sizes. It heats up quickly and evenly, and the digital LCD timer and temperature control make it easy to get the perfect print every time. Design-wise, it’s hard to tell the BetterSub Mug Heat Press apart from the Super Deal 11OZ/12OZ Pro Mug Heat Press. Other similarities include the 0-430°F temperature range and 110V power input. However, the main reason to pick this model would be the extra heat resistance. The silica gel and high-quality aluminum help the machine remain stable even at temperatures of 700 °F. With that, it should be easy to maintain consistent results with your projects.

The Saillong Mug Heat Press Machine also comes with a detachable base, so you can easily clean it.
The Saillong Mug Heat Press Machine is among the smallest machines on the list, alongside the Cricut Mug Press. That said, this machine is also significantly smaller than the editor’s choice making it more portable. It’ll easily fit in a suitcase, and given its pig iron and silicone construction, it’s not likely to take damage on your journey. Handles are added to the design, so it should also be easy to carry with your hands.

While the BetterSub is made of high-quality aluminum, this model features 5mm thick carbon steel. The two mug presses also offer automatic features such as automatic baking time control and automatic timer and alarm. However, this machine’s more user-friendly design may be one reason you want to pick it over the BetterSub.
We understand that finding the perfect product to fit your needs can be difficult. With so many products on the market, it’s hard to know which one is right for you. That’s why we’ve created this buying guide to help you make an informed decision when purchasing a mug press.
A mug press is a machine that helps you create custom mugs with your own designs. Mug presses work by heating a transfer paper with your design on it and then pressing it onto the mug. The heat from the press helps to seal the design onto the mug. They are typically used in businesses, such as coffee shops or promotional companies, but can also be used for personal use. Mug presses come in a variety of sizes and features, so it’s important to choose one that best suits your needs.
Mug presses are a great way to create custom mugs with your own designs. If you have a business, they can be used to promote your brand or product. They are also great for personal use, such as creating gifts for friends and family. There are many benefits of using a mug press, including:
– The ability to create custom mugs with unique designs.
– Mug presses are easy to use and don’t require any special skills.
– They’re relatively affordable.
– Mug presses are fast, so you can create a lot of mugs in a short amount of time.
How to Choose the Best Mug Press?
When choosing the best mug press for your needs, there are a few things you should keep in mind, including:
Mug presses use either a heat transfer or sublimation process to transfer your design onto the mug.
– Heat transfer is the most common type of transfer technology used in mug presses. It works by heating a transfer paper with your design on it and then pressing it onto the mug. The heat from the press helps to seal the design onto the mug. It’s a relatively simple process and doesn’t require any special skills. You might want to check out our reviews of the best heat transfer paper sets
– Sublimation is a more advanced type of transfer technology that uses heat and to turn your design into a gas. The gas then bonds with the molecules of the mug, which creates a permanent image. The design is first printed onto a transfer paper using sublimation ink. The transfer paper is then placed on the mug and heated in order to seal the design onto the mug.
In comparison with heat transfer, sublimation offers a higher quality print and is more durable.
However, it’s also more expensive. Sublimation is best suited for businesses that want to create professional-looking mugs.
One of the first things to consider when choosing a mug press is the available mug sizes. Most mug presses can accommodate mugs up to 11 ounces, but some can accommodate larger mugs and tumblers up to 30 ounces. Make sure you choose a mug press that can accommodate the size of the mug you want to use.
The heating element is one of the most important parts of a mug press. It’s what heats the transfer paper so that it can be pressed onto the mug. Make sure the heating element is made of high-quality materials and that it can reach the correct temperature quickly.
Another important consideration is the heating time. Some mug presses take longer to heat up than others. The average heating time is between 30 seconds and two minutes. The heating time depends on the type of heating element the mug press has.
Some mug presses allow you to set the amount of time the press is on. This is helpful if you want to create mugs with different designs. For example, you may want to set the press for a shorter amount of time if you’re creating a mug with a simple design. But if you’re creating a mug with a more complex design, you may want to set the press for a longer amount of time
Another important feature to look for in a mug press is adjustable pressure. This feature allows you to adjust the amount of pressure the press applies to the mug, depending on the thickness of the transfer paper. This is an important setting to have so that you can avoid damaging the mug or transfer paper.
Most mug presses have digital displays that show the temperature and time. This is quite helpful if you want to make sure you’re using the press correctly.
Mug presses are a great way to create custom mugs with your own designs. Keep the above factors in mind when choosing the best mug press for your needs.
You should also consider the size and weight of the mug press when making your decision. Some mug presses are larger and heavier than others. If you plan on traveling with your mug press, or if space is limited in your home or office, you may want to choose a smaller, lighter mug press.
When choosing a mug press, it’s important to consider safety features. Some mug presses come with an automatic shut-off feature that turns the press off if it gets too hot. This is a valuable safety feature to look for, especially if you plan on using the press frequently. Another safety feature worth looking for is a safety guard. This helps to prevent your hands from getting too close to the heating element.
If you plan on creating a lot of mugs, you’ll want to choose a mug press that can accommodate multiple mugs. Some mug presses can only accommodate one mug at a time, while others can accommodate two or even four mugs.
Of course, you’ll also want to consider your budget when choosing a mug press. Mug presses range in price from around $30 to $500. If you’re on a tight budget, you may want to choose a less expensive mug press. However, if you plan on using your mug press frequently, or if you plan on creating a lot of mugs, you may want to invest in a more expensive mug press.
Most mug presses can accommodate ceramic, glass, and metal mugs. However, some mug presses can only accommodate certain materials. Make sure you choose a mug press that can accommodate the type of mug you want to use.
The durability of the mug press is also an important consideration. Some mug presses are made with high-quality materials that will last for years, while others are made with cheaper materials that may break down over time. The most durable materials for mug presses include metal and ceramic. These materials are designed to withstand high temperatures and repeated use. If you want your mug press to last for a long time, choose one that’s made with these materials.
Another thing to consider is the warranty. Some mug presses come with a one-year warranty, while others come with a two- or three-year warranty. If you plan on using your mug press frequently, or if you think there’s a chance it may break, you may want to choose a mug press with a longer warranty.
If you’re looking for a versatile machine that can print on more than just mugs, you may want to consider a heat press combo that comes with a mug press attachment. Heat press combos come with multiple attachments that allow you to print on t-shirts, plates, and cups. You can find a nice heat press combo in our list on the best heat presses available on the market today.

I’ve recently bought Betters Subs mug press, done 20 mugs so far and they still smell very acrid. I contacted Better Subs and they offered me $10 & a new silicone sleeve. They insisted that all presses smell, but I’m wondering if they’re trying to pull one over on me. Perhaps I should just buy good press?
New ones will smell like fish or burnt silicon, but this will wear off after about 100 presses or so. All of them will do this.
My Geo Knight is smelly when hot, but it doesn’t smell horribly so … my idea of horrible and yours may very well differ. Regardless, ventilation is a good idea – you don’t want to be breathing in ink vapors no matter what you can or cannot smell.
what kind of ink do you use on BetterSub presses?
I typically use Cricut iron on vinyl. I tried infusible ink but it is quite a bit of a learning curve. The glitter iron on vinyl is the easiest to weed and super user friendly! There’s plenty of YouTube videos that can teach you about different types of vinyl and recommended heat press times.
I’m thinking about adding mugs to my product line. What mug press have you had success with? I would like to make 50 – 100 mugs each week.
